From the creators of the legendary Fonda San Miguel in Austin, Texas, comes a new restaurant, Tzintzuntzan — a celebration of Mexico’s rich interior culinary traditions. 

The name “Tzintzuntzan” means “place of hummingbirds” in Purépecha, an ancient language from the 1300s prevalent in the Mexican region of the same name. It also refers to the modern town in Michoacán, Mexico, and its archaeological site. The name is pronounced “zin-zoon-zan.”

Tzintzuntzan is developing a menu that features Mexican baked goods from the panadería, ice cream, and regional breakfast dishes from Mexican states and cities like Merida, Oaxaca, and Mexico City. Miró Rivera Architects designed Tzintzuntzan, with plans showing both indoor and outdoor dining areas.
